Technical Tip (3): Gudgeon pin circlip loss prevented
This month’s Handy tip
To prevent the accidental loss of a circlip when removing a gudgeon pin from a piston, slide a pencil through the pin. As the circlip springs free, it will be safely caught on the pencil. This avoids the risk of fluff or fibres from rags stuffed into the crankcase mouth being caught that may clog up the oilways.
