John F’s 1951 Matchless G80S

The winning bike from the section's 2009 Copdock Show stand

The winning bike from the section's 2009 Copdock Show stand

A fine example of a 1951 single, with magneto ignition and 6V electrics.  This bike sports the “new”, for 1951,  teledraulic suspension.  The rear suspension unit became known as the “jampot” due to its similarity in appearance to a pot of jam!

In 1951 this fine machine would have cost you £198.2s.5d  It is a little more expensive today.
