Welcome to the East Suffolk Section of the AJS & Matchless Owners’ Club
The Owners’ Club gets you in contact with fellow enthusiasts through one of the largest and, we think, the best of the one-make classic clubs !
The East Suffolk section of the AJS and MOC was formed in 1997 and quickly grew to the stage that we were able to undertake the organisation of the annual rally of the Owners’ Club at a site near Woodbridge only ten years later.
For those interested the club history can be found here
Please take time to browse around the site. Perhaps you’ll be able to come along to a meet up – you would be most welcome. Ownership of a bike of the marque is not a necessary requirement – just interest and enthusiasm!
We’re a friendly bunch and meet informally each month at a pub near Woodbridge called The Hasketon Turks Head, for a pleasant chat, mainly about bikes of course, and we also have weekend and evening runs and other events. If you need it, there is a broad range of experience in the Section to help with advice or assist with technical problems.
We meet at the Turks Head, Low Road, Hasketon, Woodbridge, IP13 6JG second Monday each month at 8:00 pm.

Here’s what we’ve been doing lately:
14th Jan 2011
A good proportion of the regular runners mustered at Spencer’s for the Cold Turkey Run, the Section’s after-Christmas jaunt, to be led off by Maurice. Conditions weren’t as cold as we usually encounter, which was a surprise, but a brisk 25-mile canter to finish at Hasketon was ideal to blow away the cobwebs. Several non-riders and family had gathered back at the pub to meet us for a bite of lunch.
Democracy was assured when there was a healthy turnout for the Section AGM on January’s clubnight. Albert and Richard dealt with business briskly, each with brief reports. Peter, the treasurer, summarised the satisfactory financial picture and announced that as there are no big expenses looming, the committee was recommending a reduction in subs This evidently impressed members, who clamoured for their re-election! Long-standing runs captain Dave, who was ill and unable to be there, had said he wished to stand down, so currently a vacancy awaits a volunteer. He has done an outstanding job over the years suggesting venues and organising some interesting runs, so we are very grateful to him.
Exciting news announced by Richard was that the Section would be receiving a cheque for winning the Club’s award for the amazing sales of raffle tickets we made at the Copdock show in October.
The main item on the agenda, however, was that rising numbers at meetings are making it difficult for members to get in and be part of the proceedings. As a result we are risking friction with the operation of the pub — basically, we’ve outgrown it!
An alternative venue, Waldringfield Golf Club, had been suggested by Graham and after a visit by Albert and Richard, was recommended as ideal. After very little debate, it was decided that from February, the main monthly Section meets each second Monday would be at Waldringfield. Currently members also meet informally on each fourth Monday at the Turk’s Head during the winter months and this will continue. We want to keep our connection with the pub and intend to continue finishing events such as the Charity run at Hasketon.
A useful discussion followed with several suggestions for the coming year’s programme. It was felt that, with the rising cost of the Felixstowe run, it is probably not going to be a choice for as many members as used to ride it, so it may not be included. Several members expressed interest in going to the International rally in Kent at the end of May. The Charity Run will be on Spring Bank Holiday as usual.
